The purpose of the website is too showcase the project alongside the exhibition, but beyond the exhibition, it will become am archive of any further work, interviews, talks and events to do with the project. I will be using Wix to produce this website, as I have used Wix extensively both in my professional activities, and also in my education (this blog is hosted with Wix!). Becuase of this I feel very confident I can bring an fully functioning to life with ease, and without having to learn anything new. I also no my way around the design features, and can create something that will compliment the project. and the final images. It should be simple, and dark.
Things to include on the website:
Artists Statement
Final images
How to get involved
interviews
The website will also allow me to produce the QR codes for the exhibition, "hidden" pages that will only be accessible with the link given by the QR code of each image, will contain the audio clip which will then play. For someone at the exhibition, they will scan the code on there phone and be able to listen to the clip while viewing the work, but also will then be able to access the website, increasing engagement with the online aspect of the project.
Construction
I decided to pay for an upgraded version of Wix so that the website could have its own domain name: www.terrfiedandcurious.com. This makes the website appear much more profesional, and also takes away any adds placed on it by wix, giving a cleaner overall look.
in keeping with the idea of Darkrooms, the website has a black baclkground as is very dark and simplistic the whole way through. This keeps the feeling of a dark enclosed space, and also brings all the attention to the work.
The screenshot above shows one of the audio clip pages that the QR codes will link too for the exhibition. The shot below shows a light box that appears when you first enter the site, warning that the themes and images are of an adult nature. I included this as the interviews include very strong and sometimes lewd language that would not be appropriate for a child.
Finished Website
This first page currently shows the teaser trailer I made previously, when all the images are completed it will show a show reel of the images and their respective audio clips, this is a simple and easy change to make.
All the edited interviews are here to be watched. There is another warning here about the language and themes.
I added the questionnaire, so more people could be involved with the project as it continues after the MA, the facebook group page is also linked here.
Finally, I decided to add a legacy page, this shows previous work from my MA. It is separate from my main final images, but gives anyone who enters a chance to see how my journey has progressed through this project.
