These images had been intended to be taken during an earlier part of the day, however time constraints did not allow. In that sense I see them more of a location scouting exercise then potential final images, however, I did have a chance to imprint a ghost in to the final image.
The lens flares in these first tow images were almost impossible to remove without the use of Photoshop witch I would prefer to use as little as possible. Photo editing is a day to day practice within my professional work life and I would prefer not to use it in my art work. A simple answer would be to just not include the light sources in my photographs (Having already used a wider aperture to remove any "starburst" effects), and this might be a way to move in the future, but at the same time I found these two locations strange and interesting and I may include the images in my work in progress portfolio, I may also return to these locations at a later date. There's definitely a sense of mystery here and, the odly placed lamp alongside a trail, and the railings that appear to have no path, indeed parts of this path had almost entirely eroded away.
These two images were taken of the same location from two different angles, the top image was taken looking towards the town, but I was not happy about the appearance of buildings in the background, removing the sense of isolation and almost bring a sense of safety to the image. But in turning around I felt it was a shame to miss out on the staircase that leas up and into the ether. This location also heavily reminded me of a sequence in Silent Hill 2 where the protagonist walks through an old tunnel to the other side of town, during this sequence the player is made very aware of monsters traversing below you, but they are never actually able to get to you, resulting in a very tense moment in the game. Similarly here we felt as if we were being watched, or thought that we could here people nearby, but no one ever appeared despite the consistency of the noises.
